Carlton TeamThe Melbourne Team ministers in the innercity suburb of Carlton, just 1 km from the centre and right on the most famous "eat street" in Australia. Being inner city we are close to public transport, markets, parks, shopping, cinemas etc. Housing tends to be British-style terrace houses, and compared to suburbia there is a great sense of community. Carlton has the lowest average income of any in our state, largely due to the presence of a massive government high rise housing estate - this is our mission field. This estate is vastly multicultural, with a high percentage of recent refugee arrivals. Most people in the estates are from other than Christian backgrounds - predominantly Muslim, but many Buhddists also. Australia is a big place, so distances are long. A local church, acting on a vision from the Lord, has established a small church planting team in this community for the last 10 years. In the last 5 years, the emphasis has moved to working predominantly among Muslims, especially Somali, Eritrean, Turkish people groups. What do we do?There is a small multicultural church meeting, and the team is involved in a large amount of ministry including: Evangelism
