Short Term (Summer Teams)Summer Teams are a group of people from different geographic areas and church backgrounds coming together to serve for three weeks, usually during summer, alongside resident missionaries in cross-cultural ministry at an International Teams team location. An experienced leader will train and travel with the team to ensure a good experience and care for all team members. It's not so much what YOU do, but what GOD does IN you in those three weeks. As you serve alongside resident missionaries you will see that missionaries are "ordinary" Christians with a God given passion to serve where they are. Learn to trust God in new ways. When you are in an unfamiliar culture you lose your independence! Expand your vision of God's purposes for His world. Three things WE want to do well for your Summer Team. Good Training An Overseas Pre-Field Manual including suggestions for support raising, readings about short-term missions and assignments for completion is provided. Summer team leaders and team members gather in Sydney for 3 days training prior to departure for their team location.
Training covers topics such as: Who is International Teams?, Cultural differences, Telling your story, Conflict Resolution, Evangelism. Good Experience Summer team locations are selected to represent a cross section of the over 60 countries in which we serve around the globe and the variety of ministries in which we are involved.
Some people join a summer team to a particular location, for others it is the ministry emphasis that is important. We seek to match your expectations to the team experience. However, we also stress flexibility! Good Debrief Debrief is very much a process. Each day on your summer team, time will be allocated for reflection on the day's activities. The last day of the team is set aside for debrief, including reflection, reading and writing at your team location. Further contact after you return home will aid your re-entry. You get a free copy of the book "Re-entry" by Peter Jordan (YWAM).
