Refugees
A refugee is a person who “owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country.”
1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees
Today multitudes of people around the globe find themselves uprooted, lonely and frightened. Haunted by unspeakable acts of horror and humiliation, many are forced from their homes, beginning long journeys of separation and uncertainty.
They travel the world along often dangerous, well-worn paths paved with tears, sorrow and despair. This is the refugee highway.
Millions live in massive camps, while others simply get lost amongst the numbers and statistics of displaced people.
They are thrown into a lifestyle of welfare and dependency where hope and purpose are seldom found.
International Teams is passionate about helping refugees find refuge in God wherever they may be on the refugee highway. Inspired by the words of the prophet Isaiah we are seeking to proclaim good news to the displaced (Isaiah 61:1).
